My name is Anne & I've been overweight most of my life - at least since puberty. You name it, I've tried it to lose weight: everything from OTC diet drugs, Weight Watchers, personal trainers, Atkins, low-fat...the list goes on. I've always - always - put the weight, and then some, back on.
When I say the word "overweight", please don't get a picture in your mind of a woman who has 30-50 pounds to lose. Nope. I'm talking morbidly obese. I knew I had to do something about it and, like I said, I tried but never succeeded in it "sticking". In December 2012, I heard a word: Paleo. It got me wondering, researching, thinking...
You see, I've been lucky - I don't have high blood pressure, diabetes or blood sugar issues, no major health problems. But my family has had a myriad of health issues ranging from cancer to ulcerative colitis to heart disease and even mental health problems. I knew it was a matter of time before those prescription bottles began lining up in my cupboard.
And I didn't like the thought of that.
2013 was a pivotal year for me: I turned 40. As the date was approaching, I realized I needed to get a handle on my weight before I became seriously ill and jeopardized my chances of living a long, full live with my husband and kids.
In March 2013, I dove in head first into a Paleo lifestyle and have never looked back. Today, I'm down nearly 70 pounds with many more to go. On this journey - this transformation of my body - I've picked up a few nuggets of information along the way. I'm learning more about how everything we eat affects our health. And, everything we touch, breathe ... You name it.
As I approach my 41st birthday, Whole Lifestyle Living was created as a means for me to share my very personal journey to transforming not just my body but my entire family to a healthy lifestyle.
