21 Day Sugar Detox ~ Week 2 Check-in

And ... a little announcement

Week #2 has come to end in my pre-holiday 21 day sugar detox. One more week to go!! Well, sort of ... Because I'll take a short break for Thanksgiving but start again in December. More on that plan next week - can't get too far ahead of myself.

Last week, I was feeling pretty bummed at this time. I hopped on the scale Monday morning and the typical loss that I would have expected did not happen. But, I knew not to let it get me down.

This week was a busy week with sport/activities, doctors appointments and preparing for my son's eighth birthday party. I ended up getting SICK! Ugh ... It was one of those mysterious illnesses that came out of nowhere and knocked me down for a few days. I was running a low-grade fever, had a sore throat and was just exhausted. I went home from work early on Wednesday and stayed home all day Thursday. Made it into the office on Friday but left at noon for the day. I vegged when at home and I think it really helped. By Saturday, I was feeling just fine; as if it had never happened!

Now, in the past, I could've ended up with bronchitis or strep throat. But, I didn't. I attribute that to living a much healthier lifestyle which has really improved my immune system. Sure, I took the sick days but I believe the virus that I had was much less severe than what I experienced in previous years.

I used my essential oils to help support my immune system to beat the bug, too! I rubbed Thieves oil on my throat, peppermint on my feet and diffused RC to help with the occasional congestion I had, too. Aaaaahhhh... I love my oils!

I hadn't jumped on the scale all week because I was feeling so cruddy. So, when I hopped on Saturday morning, I was so pleased! Then, came today ...

21DSD Week 2 Update & I hit the 75# Mark!! | Whole Lifestlye Living

I hit the 75 pound mark!!

Let me start off by saying this: Yes, I'm thrilled! But, I'm not going to dwell on it too much. That's because I can see my target in the days ahead: 85 pounds by 12/31/14. That's 45 days and 10 pounds. Just when I thought I wasn't going to stand a chance in hell at achieving this goal, I can see it. I can taste it. I can feel it!! And WHEN I achieve it, it's 75 days until the next goal: 100 pounds.

Wow...

When I started this journey last March, I set some lofty goals. I came just shy of my "60x40" in 2013. The first 56 pounds were so easy to lose. I mean - literally - they just melted off of me. But these last 20 have been the biggest pain my ass!!

<Why do we say "lose"? It's not like I want to FIND these pounds?>

The last 20 pounds have been a result of bunion surgery, biking for the first time in 25 years, 2 5K's (which I ended up walking as my body wasn't quite ready to run), holidays, the Polar Vortex, and vacations. It's been a tough battle but I pushed through with so much encouragement from friends and family.

I asked my oldest son, who's 10, to hop on the scale tonight. Guess what he weighs? 76 pounds! I lost a 10 year old boy!! What a perspective.

As I head into my final week of this 21-day sugar detox, I have one more big challenge: I'm attending a continuing education class at the executive education center of the UW-Madison School of Business. The Fluno Center is well-known for the spread they put out for their students. I'm talking decadent desserts and very hearty meals for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Thank God it's only for two days!! The temptation will be great but knowing how I feel today will need to be enough to resist.

One week and counting...

In good health!
~Anne

Oh, and yes, I did celebrate my achievement. Don't get me wrong; I am very proud of myself. How did I celebrate, you ask? I bought new underwear! Yup... Saggy drawers are no more! :)
