There is so much information out in the world today about what to eat, what not to eat; what products to use, what not to use; what's good vs. harmful to our bodies. How do we sift through it all and make good choices for ourselves and our families?
My approach tends to be a sponge - I read what I can and decide for myself what works best for me.
Why Whole Lifestyle Living?
Last year, I took a leap ... I "went Paleo" and gave up eating any grains and all dairy. For my family, I eliminated all processed and refined foods. Within 10 days of eliminating grains from my diet, I lost 10 pounds. I was astonished! I set a goal to lose 40 pounds by my 40th birthday (7 mos) and not only did I achieve that goal, I beat it!
Learning more about Paleo led me to learning more about how our food is grown (and manufactured), what chemicals and additives are added to our food supply, and what is really in many household cleaners and pharmaceutical products.
I decided: This must stop! I'll share more as we get to know one another about the health issues my family - namely, my kids - have endured. My husband and I spoke a great deal about what we were learning - things you just can un-learn. With him fully on-board, we've begun to transform our home to one that is less toxic and rely less on traditional pharmaceuticals to treat common ailments.
What Whole Lifestyle Living is about
I am here to share with you my journey, my transformation if you may, to a healthy weight by following a few key principles:
Clean Eating
This one is huge. I am dedicated to following a Paleo approach to my eating. My kids and husband are more Primal or "Real Food" if you must label it; this means they eat occasional grains and dairy. I'll also share recipes and meal plans - I'm quite the planner & cook so you'll like this!
Keep Moving
This is something that's taken me a while to figure out. Not to sound like an arthritis medicine commercial but let's face it, you must move to stay in motion. If you are looking to lose some weight, feel better about yourself, have more energy: MOVE! You don't have to kill yourself or join expensive gyms either. While I'm no personal trainer, I'll share some of my favorite approaches for getting some exercise in each day and some of my favorite sites.
Essential Oils
I joined Young Living Essential Oils and have begun using them in our everyday lives . I have an entire section dedicated to sharing my love for Essential Oils.
To join my Young Living team or to purchase oils, you can go to my sign-up page.
Reduce Toxin Exposure
This ties into not only what we eat, but the products we are using in our lives. Before I got into essential oils, I had signed up with Norwex and began using many of their products as my first step to cut back on harmful cleaners in my home. Now, I'm learning more about making my own cleaning products and skin care [using essential oils]. You can learn more about Norwex by visiting my page at www.anneburgess.norwex.biz
Healthy Life Choices
I think this is the toughest one of all. Change is never easy. My rants, er blog posts, will primarily deal with change and choices - everyday struggles, the balance of parenthood.
So, that's what Whole Lifestyle Living is about! I hope you stay for a while.
